Early Retirement
Retirement prior to the normal retirement age.

Eligible Expenses
Expenses that are covered under an insurance policy.

Endowment Insurance
Type of life insurance that provides for payment of the capital to the insured party if he/she is still living at the maturity date, or to a beneficiary should the insured party die before this date.

Estate
1) Property passed on to a deceased person's heirs directly or indirectly through a trust.

2) The sum of an individual's property, possessions, and liabilities having an economic value.

Estate Planning
The arrangement of an individual's affairs to facilitate the passage of assets to heirs and minimize inheritance taxes owing.

Evidence of Insurability
All the facts that determine the type of risk a prospective insured person represents.

Exclusions
Provisions excluding a risk that would otherwise be covered under the terms of the contract. Exclusions notably refer to a loss or the circumstances of its occurrence (e.g., self-inflicted injuries, impaired driving, etc.).

Extended Term Insurance Privilege
An option available to a policyowner who stops paying premiums to extend coverage in the form of a term insurance policy.

Family History
Information on an applicant's family background, including age and health of parents and siblings as well as their ages at death and causes of death, if applicable.

Financial Needs Analysis
Analysis made by a representative to help an individual identify his or her insurance coverage needs.  Synonym: Protection Analysis.

Financial Planning
The provision of financial advice taking into account an individual's personal financial situation.

First-to-Die Insurance
A policy taken out by two or more persons where insurance is paid only upon the first death of any of the persons insured.

Fraudulent Misrepresentation
A false statement or omission made with the intention to deceive the insurer into concluding an insurance contract.

Fund or Funds
Means any segregated fund established by the Company under the Helios Contract and available for a specific Core Guarantee, Optional Guarantee or benefit, which consists of a specified group of assets.

Funded Pension Plan
A pension plan in which the promised pensions are fully covered through the systematic accumulation of funds (creation of a pension fund).
