It is often said "Better rich and healthy than poor and sick". How can one not agree? When you think about it, isn't health fundamental to financial security?

This was confirmed by a survey conducted by SOM for Desjardins Financial Security in
August 2003. The survey, which polled 1999 Canadians to evaluate their financial security, revealed that for most Canadians financial health meant job security, savings and health.

Answer the following questions and compare your answers to the ones given for the survey*.
 

• What are the chances that some time during my life I'll be laid up for three months or more because of an accident, critical illness or disability?
• What coverage does my province's health services provide?
• Could I pay my basic personal expenses and make the payments on my loans, credit cards, etc. if I become disabled for an extended period of time?
• How much does room and board in a long-term public health facility cost?
• Would I have financial assistance or access to resources if I had to care for a dependent (child, parent or other)?
